Illegal Connections

Notice

Sump pumps, roof drains, and foundation drains are considered an illegal connection to the Lake Mitchell Sewer System.

They increase sewer rates.
LMSA and the users of the system are paying to treat groundwater.
They increase the use of electricity and the cost to operate the system.
They cause additional wear on pumps, components & the system as a whole.
They increase maintenance activities and increase overtime hours.
They increase the risk of sewer backups into your home/business.
The sewer system was not designed to withstand these types of connections and is causing a major issue with sewer overflows at the lift stations located on East Lake Mitchell Drive and 13th Street.
LMSA has the authority to perform scheduled home inspections during all reasonable hours.
You are may be subject to fines, if it is determined that your residence has an illegal connection.

Congressman John Moolenaar notified LMSA that $1.5 million was allocated to LMSA’s Improvement Project for the 2026 Appropriation Funding.
LMSA received a $50,000 MIO TAC grant in 2026 to offset the engineering cost for the Improvement Project.
